YWAM Herrnhut / Saxony
History
In November 2001, we were in Herrnhut with our Trumpet Tour, designed for mobilizing people into the mission. During this time, history became alive for us! We stood at the graves of Zinzendorf, Dober and many more. We heard stories about the lives of Herrnhut's faith-heros, how Herrnhut was founded, about the one-hundred-year prayer-chain as well as the passionate eagerness for mission of the first Moravians.
It was inspiring, as we felt God's presence in an intense way. God began to lay his dreams into our heart. We prayed for a new wave of missionaries coming from Germany and Europe and that the heritage of Zinzendorf would become a basis for the churches and Christians in Germany as well as all of Europe. During that particular time of prayer, we felt that we should establish a YWAM base for the 10/40 window in Herrnhut.
Our excitement was great, but we did not want to build on a romantic wave that occured more than 250 years ago. [... continued on YWAM Herrnhut´s homepage]
Vision & Strategy
God gave us the vision to send out a new wave of missionaries in cooperation with churches -- disciples that are prepared to go, yearning to receive their heritage and calling. We want to send out hundreds and thousands of new missionaries into the 10/40 window. One focus will be set on the “key people” and on strategic cities, stratetig times and strategic countries.
Focus
Our eyes are set on the countries in the 10/40 window, which means Northern Africa, the Middle East, Central, South and South East Asia. Over 90% of all unreached people groups, or people who speak the same language and have similar cultures, live in this area. Three billion people live in these countries suffering the most violence, the least food and clothes and the most corruption and lies. The major religions of Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism are characteristic for people in this area of the world. More than 50% of the population are children under the age of fifteen. The countries with the lowest quality of life are all found there. A view through this window is shocking and challenging. This is the area where the need is the greatest and where the unreached live. Only 4% of all missionaries currently working in the world work in the 10/40 window among the poorest of the poor, and those who have never heard the Gospel of Jesus.
