ywamlogoJugend mit einer Mission

...is the German speaking branch of Youth With A Mission. Known as well as “YWAM” (“WHY-wham") we see ourselves as an international movement of young Christians who are called to serve Jesus Christ and to live and to proclaim the Gospel of God’s Kingdom with the whole life. Our “Mission” is to know God and to make Him known. From the beginning in 1960 our main emphasis was to enable young people to share their faith in Jesus with others, according His example through word and deeds, within the settings of worldwide mission outreaches. Today the youth is still our focus, however there are 8 to 80 year-olds active in YWAM from more than 140 nations. In many of our teams people from different races and nationalities work and live alongside each other. Promo Video

Our many ministries and activities can be classified under three main categories: Evangelism, Training, and Mercy Ministries.

Currently we are active in nearly 1200 locations in 180 countries with a full-time staff of 18.300 (Stand: 2011).

Evangelism: We want to share the message of Jesus Christ in contemporary, understandable ways so that people of today can understand and accept it. With this in mind we are using creative means like music, video, websites, pantomime, cultural performances, and sports and leisure time facilities. We want to reach people of all ages in their very diverse life situations and all over of the earth with this peaceful message of love and forgiveness.

Training: Based on biblical Christian values we want to help people in the development of their personality and abilities so that they are able to conciously take their place in society and the church, in world missions and in community life. Training, discipleship that is lived out through relationships, and practical application of the learned things are, in our understanding, inseperable. In YWAM’s University, University of the Nations (U of N), Christians can obtain a degree in professional fields like science and technology, languages, development aid, and Christian ministries.

The Discipleship Training School is the basic requirement for becoming a Full time-member  in YWAM and serves at the same time as an entry programme for all of our other courses. Each year 10.000 students participate in one of the 400 world wide training locations.

Mercy Ministries: We aim to bring help and hope in those places with the highest needs. Making God known has a practical side. We reach about 400.000 people annually with various mercy ministries. For example, ministering to street children in India, caring for abondoned children in Asia, providing food and shelter for refugees and flood disaster victims in Asia and Africa, orphanages, Aids relief etc.

Promoting spiritual life: In partnership with churches and Christian communities and organizations we want to motivate, equip and lead Christians from Germany for their evangelistic and missionary task into specific society areas. We focus particularly on the unreached people groups that have never heard the Gospel.
