“Jugend mit einer Mission” (JMEM) is the German branch of the international mission organisation Youth With A Mission (YWAM) which was founded in 1965 by Loren Cunningham in the USA.
On the occasion of the Olympic games in Munich (1972), Youth With A Mission was searching for a place to stay that was in that area and bought the Hurlach Castle that is situated about 70 km north of Munich. Up until today the castle is used as a training centre for missionaries. Over the past 30 years, thousands of students from Germany and other nations have attended schools such as the Discipleship Training School (DTS) or the School of Biblical Studies (SBS). Seminars, charitable and missionary outreaches within Germany and in other countries, as well local ministries (amongst foreigners, in churches or youth groups) have been offered.
Over the years YWAM has had different teams in different locations all over Germany over a short- as well as mid-term period. Many YWAM ministries in other countries have been born out of Germany.
